Beit HaEmek (Hebrew: בֵּית הָעֵמֶק, lit. House of the Valley) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located in the western Galilee, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Asher Regional Council. In 2015 it had a population of 511.
History
The kibbutz was established in 1949. Its name is derived from that of the nearby Yemenite Jewish village of Amqa and the Biblical city of Beth-emek "included in Asher tribal allotment"[2] mentioned in the Book of Joshua 19:27,[3] which was located 5 kilometres north-east of the kibbutz. The kibbutz was built near the village of Kuwaykat.
