Cominella is a genus of carnivorous sea snails, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Buccinidae, the true whelks.[2]
Description
Many extant species are endemic to coastal waters off of New Zealand[3] and Australia (including Norfolk Island).[4] There is a rich fossil record in New Zealand.[5] Ancestors of species in Australia likely migrated from New Zealand via long-distance egg rafting, despite taxa exhibiting direct development.[4]
