Cratoxylum cochinchinense is a plant in the family Hypericaceae. The specific epithet cochinchinense is from the Latin meaning "of Cochinchina".[3]
Description
Cratoxylum cochinchinense grows as a shrub or tree measuring up to 30 metres (100 ft) tall with a diameter of up to 65 centimetres (26 in). The brown bark is smooth to flaky. The flowers are crimson. The fruits measure up to 1.2 cm (0.5 in) long.[3] The trees are cut for derum timber.[1]
Distribution and habitat
Cratoxylum cochinchinense grows naturally from southern China to Borneo. Its habitat is forests, including kerangas forests and peat swamps.[3]
