The Deralok Dam is a gravity dam currently being constructed on the Great Zab River just upstream of the town of Deralok in Dohuk Governorate, Iraq. For its primary purpose, the dam will support a 37.6 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric power station. Construction on the dam began in November 2015 when Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani inaugurated the project..[1][2] The US$129 million contract to build the dam and power station was awarded to a Boland Payeh-Farab Consortium. It is being financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The project is expected to be complete in mid-2019.[3]
