Flaris LAR01 , also variously called the LAR 1, is a Polish four-seat very light jet, currently under development by Metal-Master of Jelenia Góra.[5] The project was started by Sylwia and Rafał Ładzińscy with the assistance of the Instytut Lotnictwa, Instytut Techniczny Wojsk Lotniczych, Politechnika Warszawska, Politechnika Wrocławska and Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna.[6][7] The chief designer is Andrzej Frydrychewicz.[8] with aerodynamics by Krzysztof Kubryński.[9] Rafał Ładziński is the head of the FLARIS project, the chief of the R&D, the originator and the manufacturer of the jet.[10][11]
The aircraft mock-up was displayed at the 2013 Paris Airshow.[7] The designers intend to install removable wings.[12]
The first prototype is being used for non-destructive load testing while the second aircraft will be the first to fly. Powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW610 turbofan the second prototype began taxi tests on 20 February 2015 in preparation for the first flight. The type is expected to be certificated in 2018.[13][14][15] The production version will use the Williams FJ33-5A powerplant.[16]
