Geoffrey Warde
Geoffrey Hodgson Warde (23 August 1889 – 20 May 1972) was an Anglican bishop in the 20th century.[1]
He was educated at Tonbridge School and Keble College, Oxford.[2] Ordained in 1915, he was a curate at St Pancras before wartime service as a Chaplain to the Forces, after which he was Priest in Charge at All Saints, Pimlico[3] and then Vicar of St Mark's, Regent's Park.[4] From 1922 to 1928 he was Deputy Priest-in-Ordinary to the King and then Dean of Gibraltar.[5] Returning to England in 1933 he became Rural Dean of Grantham then Archdeacon of Carlisle [6] before his last appointment as Bishop of Lewes. He retired in 1959.[7]
