Harvey J (born Harvey Justice III) is an American rapper, celebrity chef, and internet personality. He is most known for his musical work and alignment with the Hennessy Cognac brand.[1] He first gained recognition posting cooking skits to Facebook in May 2016, and has since accumulated over 100 million views on his content.[2][3][4] On May 7th, 2016 he announced his first US Tour ”Pancakes & Henny".[5]

Musical career

Harvey J began his musical career posting to his Facebook page. In 2015 debut single "Make It Bounce" with Trollphace was released under OWSLA.[6][7][8] After cosigns from the DJs Skrillex and Chuckie, his debut was in the Beatport Top 100 Dubstep Charts for 96 days.[9][10] On March 22nd, Harvey J released his debut mixtape “Pancakes & Hennessy”.[11][12]

Personal life

Harvey J was born and spent the majority of his life in Durham, NC. He cites Durham as being his inspiration to do music.[13] In March 2014 he opened the fashion boutique "Runway Rebellion" in Greensboro, NC.[14] Harvey J's store in North Carolina sold artwork from many up and coming local fashion designers.[15] In 2015 he attended the Belusso 2016 Collection at SWIMMIAMI in the front row.[16]

Controversy

Harvey J is openly against signing to a record label.[17] In June, 2016 Uproxx.com reported that Harvey J received an offer totaling $3,000,000 from Belaire and DJ Khaled's We The Best management to replace his branding alignment with Belaire Rosé Lux instead of Hennessy. This offer was subsequently denied by Harvey prompting a brief social media beef between the two artists.[18][19] In July, 2016 Harvey J claimed via Facebook that his flagship white Versace robe had been stolen from a gym.[20] The same robe was reportedly listed on eBay the following week with bids reaching over $80,000 before finally being removed by Ebay admins the following day.[21]
