Logentries is a software as a service provider for log management and intelligence, based in Boston, Massachusetts and Dublin, Ireland.[1][2] Logentries collects and analyzes data found within log files,[3][4] in real-time[5][6] with a cloud-delivered approach.[2][7] Logentries has more than 25,000 users.[6][8]

History

Logentries was founded in 2010 in Dublin, Ireland by Viliam Holub and Trevor Parsons.[2] Holub and Parsons worked together for over ten years at University College Dublin's Performance Engineering Laboratory,[1] where they partnered with IBM[1] to focus their research on root cause analysis of common performance and IT issues.[1][9] The Logentries service was built on the technology stemming from this academic research.[2] In October 2013, Logentries named Andrew Burton[10] as CEO and President.[9] At the same time, Logentries announced $10 million in Series-A funding from venture partners including Polaris Partners, Floodgate Fund, Frontline Ventures and RRE Ventures.[7][9] In October 2015, Logentries was purchased by Rapid7 for US68 million dollars.[11]

Technology

The Logentries technology collects and analyzes logs across software stacks[12] using a pre-processing layer to filter, correlate, and visualize log data.[2][9][13] The tool uses a combination of AWS tools and open source applications to deliver the application.

Logentries is a cloud based platform.[14]

Logentries received the NovaUCD 2013 Innovation Award in recognition of its work on making log management and analytics accessible to users beyond the technical team.[1][24]
