Matthew Roberton Battersby (18 December 1841 - 15 May 1899) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 17 May 1888 to 18 March 1899, representing the electorate of Moreton.[1]
Battersby, a blacksmith, was born in Perth, Scotland, the son of Matthew Battersby and Elizabeth (née Robertson); he arrived in Queensland from Scotland in 1865 and continued his trade until he settled on a property in Caboolture; he had two sons and three daughters.[2][3]
He died suddenly in May 1899 after serving as a member of Parliament for eleven years.[4]
