Melissa Monet (born July 16, 1964)[2] is the stage name of an American pornographic actress,[1] writer and film director.[3]
Monet entered the adult film world in 1994 at the age of 30.[4] She was the only director and producer for movies made exclusively for the Spice Channel in the first few years of its existence.[4][5]
Monet has also appeared in the porn-related documentaries Rated X: A Journey Through Porn[6] and Pornstar Pets.[7] She has directed 19 hardcore titles[8] and has directed softcore cable movies for Roger Corman's production company Click Productions.[9]
Monet was born in Staten Island, New York City.[2] She has a background in accounting, and she was a call girl and a sexual surrogate in the 1980s before entering the adult film industry.[10] Monet cites John Leslie as one of her influences. She is also an avid fan of the work of Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock.[4]
