Odd Box Records

Odd Box Records is a British DIY indiepop record label started in London but now based in Cardiff, Wales, following relocation in 2016. It has been hailed as a "big presence on the indiepop scene."^[1]

History

Odd Box was launched in 2009,^[2] after the dissolution of earlier imprint Lost Music Records.^[3][4] The label has issued a steady and wide-ranging series of albums, EPs and singles since that time including well-received releases by The Wolfhounds,^[5][6] Pocketbooks,^[7] Sarandon,^[8] The Manhattan Love Suicides,^[9] Martha,^[10] Joanna Gruesome^[11] The Blanche Hudson Weekend^[12] and The Ethical Debating Society,^[13] as well as other groups such as The Millipedes,^[14] The Humms,^[15] The Wednesday Club,^[16] One Happy Island,^[17] The Monorals,^[18] The Smittens,^[19] Ace Bushy Striptease,^[20] Pale Man Made,^[21] Tyrannosaurus Dead,^[22] Wolf Girl^[23] and Giant Burger.^[24]

The label also operates as an events promoter as well as helping to organise annual festivals, including previously the Odd Box Weekender.^[25] As such Odd Box is regarded as a lynchpin of the independent music scene, alongside other long-established DIY labels such as Fortuna Pop!^[26]
