Jirga Bannu

'Weekly Jirga Bannu' (Urdu: ہفت روزہ جرگہ بنوں) was a weekly newspaper published from Bannu district. Its publication continued for two years and then it was discontinued because of financial issues.^[1][2][3]

Pakistani columnist Farman Nawaz,^[4][5][6][7] was the editor of Jirga Bannu.^[8][9][10] Farman Nawaz is the editor of the Border Times. Nawaz has written English articles for Global Times China,^[11][12] Daily Outlook Afghanistan^[13] and several leading English newspapers of Pakistan.^{[14][15][16][17][18]} He had also worked as a blogger for Express News TV Network website.^[19] Nawaz also runs a local bilingual online newspaper The Bannu Times.

• According to the report 'Debating the Pakistani National Interest over the Kerry-Lugar Bill'^[20] of Middle East Media Research Institute Farman Nawaz favored the Kerry-Lugar Bill (Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009).
• Quarterly publication ,Indian Foreign Affairs Journal, of Association of Indian Diplomats in its vol. 6 (2011) gave special importance to an article^[21] of Farman Nawaz published in Daily Dawn where he argued that "Afghan friends would advise Pakistani traders not to disclose their identity as they move around in Afghanistan and if approached, to identify themselves as Indians, as there is a perception ... in Afghanistan [that] Indians are more respected than Pakistanis"^[22]
• The think tank "South Asian Analysis Group" highlighted the work of Nawaz about religious liberalism in its report "Identity Crisis and Political realities of Indian Muslims ".^[23]
